Industry Development Program
NOTE: This program incorporates the previous OMDC Trade Organization Support and Domestic Markets and Events programs.
Ontario Media Development Corporation provides support to Ontario’s cultural entrepreneurs by partnering with established trade and event organizations to offer initiatives, events and activities that stimulate the growth of the cultural media industries. These initiatives must promote the potential for measurable commercial transactions or other business-focused opportunities for Ontario companies that create and sell content in the book, film, interactive digital media, magazine, music or television industries, and any combination of these industries.
Suitable initiatives include:
Business development activities at significant annual markets and festivals such as structured group or one-on-one meetings between buyers and sellers; content-focused trade shows; or forums that connect buyers or investors with cultural entrepreneurs.
Trade organization initiatives such as business or content incubators with market participation; trade missions; group marketing projects; or best business practice forums.
Organizations that are interested in receiving support through the OMDC for activities that fit the descriptions above are instructed to contact OMDC to discuss the eligibility of their proposed activity before making an application. Please note that inquiries for eligibility and suitability of proposed activities must be received at least 8 weeks in advance of an activity in order for OMDC to consider the request.
NOTE: Please read the complete guidelines thoroughly prior to commencing your application. The process for submitting applications is new this year. OMDC has introduced an Online Application Portal (OAP) system and all applications MUST be submitted via the OAP.
Online Application Portal (OAP) re: Application Submissions
• As indicated above, all applications must be submitted via the OMDC Online Application Portal (OAP) system. Applications submitted by any other method will not be accepted.
• As this is a new application process all applicants are strongly encouraged to commence their applications early to allow for enough time should technical difficulties arise and/or assistance is required.
• Prior to commencing an application, your company’s corporate information must be registered. If this has not already been done, you should register as soon as possible by going to: https://apply.omdc.on.ca/.
• If you encounter problems setting up your company’s corporate information, you can email applyhelp@omdc.on.ca for assistance. This email address can also be used for any technical questions you have about the OAP.
